TetraForce

Hello and welcome to our game, TetraForce! For this game, I worked with Elijah Theuret and worked together to form Group 19. TetraForce is a role-playing game where you get to play 4 magicians who team up together to get through massive hordes of enemies and defeat the Order of Diablo to save the entire universe. The game is targeted for ages 13 and up who are looking for a good funny and cheesy story and good gameplay.

The problems that we encountered during the playtesting is that players did not like the Air Class that is in the game at all. They said that every time they use it they feel as though they have no purpose at all. The class is only focused on collecting mana for the players of course but by the way it was handled with the mana cost and the effects is what really bothered players. The cost of mana to use each spell was too high and sometimes when they do get to the end of the game they invested most of their points in health without realizing that they needed to put their skill points in mana to use the highest cost spell. When it came to the effects they said that the mana recovery should be increased and the amount of people that they could use it on to support them should be increased as well. When it came to the gameplay, playtesters reported that the story was enjoyable but it was too long. They feel that the game should be shorter for playtesting purposes and just include the first boss of the game. They also reported that they felt weak at first and felt that they needed more powerful spells for the enemies.

When it came to fixing these problems, we decided to fix the air class first. We added one card to the air class to balance out his spells but in the process, we had to add a new spell to each of the other classes to make it fair for the other players and make the number of spells that they have equal. Well in the end the players still felt that the Air class was still weak compared to the other classes and the players still felt that some spells for each class were a bit overpowered. When it came to making the game shorter for the players to feel at ease when playing the game, we gathered up all the enemies we had in the game and mix them together but in a way where it provides a challenge for the players based on the class that they have. Also, when it came to the bosses we gave the players the option whether they want an easy or hard boss that they wanted to fight against. If they chose the hardest spells then we would unlock all their spells, give them a bunch of skill points, and a free small potion and mana. When we designed the game to be played this way for the next playtest the players enjoyed it. Some players chose the easy way and decided to fight the easiest boss in the game while there were some hardcore players who decided to fight the hardest boss in the game. We also decided to add two minions to support the boss since most players found an easy time killing the bosses. When it came to the developing process we felt that we did a good job completing our tasks however we plan to plan a playtest in which we playtest the game ourselves in the future.
