At my attempt to do this step I have cut the knife into three separate parts which is the blade, handle, and the cloth. I then had to smooth the surface so it could be a little bit more accurate with the detail on the high poly knife.
After I have had finished creating my low poly version of the knife I cleared its history and froze it’s transformation. I then proceeded to create the ID model by coloring each separate part for it so it would be easier for me to texture into Substance Painter.
I then went to Substance painter with my three models and used them to add textures to my low poly model. I had a few errors where increasing the height on certain textures would overlap the other textures on my knife. I have solved this by just simply using the mask layers and paint layer to clean up the textures from my knife.
After I have finished texturing in Substance Painter I then exported the textures to Unity and also the low poly model. I then fused the textures on my knife and used post processing to present my knife in a presentable way.
In this assignment I have encountered no problems in Unity and Maya that were not so big that it stopped my workflow for this assignment. Other than some texturing issues that I had in Substance Painter everything turned out the way I wanted my knife to look like.
